Tie Trunk Configuration for OM with Elastix

OM is an all-in-one IPPBX with built-in analog phone interfaces, CO lines interfaces, SIP-based trunks and SIP client registration functionality. OM connects well to traditional and converged voice network and terminals.
Elastix® is an open-source software to establish unified communications. It has multiple features and functionalities related with all the services available: IP Telephony, Mail Server, Fax Server, Conferences, Instant Messaging Server, among others.
This note describes to implement tie trunk configuration setting for OM IPPBX with Elastix® based system to meet the requirement as stated below:
-  OM IPPBX IP address is 192.168.250.15
-  Elastix® IP address is 192.168.232.221

Configuration on Elastix®

1. Adding SIP Extension

Step1 Go to PBX > PBX Configuration > Extensions. Select device as Generic SIP Device and then click Submit.


Step2 Fill in User Extension, Display Name, and Outbound CID (optional) and then click Submit.

Note: Only set Outbound CID with numbers. The setting here will override the common outbound caller ID set in the Trunks admin. Outbound CID indicates the caller number displayed on the called party.

Step3 Click Apply Configuration Changes Here to apply all configuration changes.


2. Setting up an Outbound Channel

Step1 Go to PBX > PBX Configuration > Trunks, click Add SIP Trunk to add a SIP trunk.


Step2 Fill in Trunk Description and Trunk Name respectively for General Settings and Outgoing settings.


Step3 Fill in PEER Details (host = OM IPPBX IP address; type=account type) on Outgoing Settings.

Step4 Click Submit Changes.

Step5 Click Apply configuration Changes Here to apply all configuration changes.


3. Creating an Outbound Route

Step1 Go to PBX > PBX Configuration > Outbound Routes to add a route.


Step2 Fill in Route Name, Dial patterns (e.g. if the OM extension number is 200-209, set to 2xx), and select an appropriate outbound channel as your Trunk Sequence.


Step3 Click Apply configuration Changes Here to apply all configuration changes.


Configuration on OM IPPBX

1. Go to Multi-site page and select Globally assgined as the scenario.

Then click OK to interconnect devices installed in one or multiple sites and all inter-site calls are made by dialing the called party’s extension without extra prefix digits.


2. Enable synchronize IP address periodically and choose an authentication policies.
3. Click Add to add the managing site information.

 Step1 Fill in OM’s information (IP address = OM IP address; Prefix = refers to extension numbers of OM).
             Device address = 192.168.250.15
             Extension prefix/digits = 2xx/3 (this means a 3-digit number started with 2)
Step2 Click Save.

4. Click Add to add Elastix’s information.

Step1 Fill in Elastix information (IP address = Elastix IP address; Prefix = refers to extension numbers of Elastix).
             Device address = 192.168.232.221
             Extension prefix/digits = 7xxx/4 (this means a 4-digit number started with 7)
Step2 Click Save.

5. Reboot the device for all configurations to takes effect.

Now, the extensions of Elastix and the extensions of OM can call each other by dialing the extensions number directly.
